50 Women project field notes

The "jotting-downs" along the way of writing "50 Women"

4 notes

An extensive amount of time was just spent researching the war in the Balkans that erupted in the 90s. Two women part of “50 Women” had experiences with this war. Alot of the the situation can be boiled down to nationalism and its effects on different ethnic populations- a theme we see time and time again in other parts of the world.

The lesson to learn from all of this is how strong nationalism can be and the hatred it can fuel. Check out the posted documentary for information on the situation in the Balkans.

Nationalism: a political ideology that involves a strong identification of a group of individuals with a political entity defined in national terms.
